Looking through the photos has been so much fun.

It's reminded us of little moments we might have otherwise forgotten.  

Our package was really reasonably priced- it included two photographers who arrived when we were getting ready and stayed till the end of our reception, an album with the heaps of pages, another mini-album for yourhandbag and an engagement shoot.. so if you are still in the market for a wedding day photographer, I highly recommend giving Filip Welna a call!

 

the boys (non pro)

The Boys got dressed at his mates place in Mindarie.

It is a beautiful spacious house with amazing oceans view, several bathrooms and was perfect place for them to get ready.

But as it was so far away from where we were getting ready and the wedding venue, it wasn't practical for our photographers to travel to get pre-ceremony photos of the Boys.

Which was fine with the Mister who "didn't want a camera in his face" anyway.

I felt a bit sad about not ever getting a glimpse of them pre-wedding, so I made one of his Groomsman promise to take some 'getting ready' photos for me.

I didn't have high hopes for many photos, but he did a fantastic job. He took hundreds and he captured everything!

As there won't be any pro photos for this part of the day anyway, here are a few of the Boys getting ready.

 
The Mister is 2nd on the right. At least he is looking happy here! They didn't get their button holes until they arrived at the ceremony.

 
The individual cufflinks which they loved and raved about all night.  

My poor nervous Mister- that's his anxious face.

As an added bonus, his camera was on that setting where it takes lots of photos in quick succession so it is almost like watching a video. I actually felt quite moved flicking through the pics of the Mister fastening his tie, helping his mates put on their cufflinks, swig his beer and them all mucking around, it was a little but like being there.

It truly is a shame you only get to wear one wedding dress in your life

I do miss dreaming about what to wear.

I'd love to be able to wear glamorous gowns on a regular basis

But there isn't much call for it in the desert.

Of all these pictures I think my wedding dress was most like that very last one. And I had dangly earrings as well.

We are all going to have to wait a bit longer for wedding photos I'm afraid!
We decided to drive back up north today instead of flying tomorrow (so we could bring our wedding presents with us)
We weren't able to pick up photos before we left (early start for12hr drive) so he is going to post to us instead.. So I guess that means a few more working days.. Drats.

There are some good things about not planning a wedding and there a few things I miss.

Like I miss not being able to fantasise about wedding dresses anymore. And I miss the feelings of anticipation. And I miss being able to justify buying impractical expensive stuff. I miss being able to get creative. I definitely miss being on honeymoon.

But I don't miss that neverending feeling of having lots to do. And I don't miss that anxious feeling as you add up all those innocent little numbers into a big ugly total. I don't miss always having the wedding in the back of mind even when there is more important stuff I should be concentrating on. I don't miss having to make decisions about things that I don't really care about. I don't miss worrying that my wedding will be good enough.

But despite all that stuff, the good outweighed the bad and I truly loved planning my wedding.  So much so, that I was a little worried that when all the wedding hoo haa was over I'd feel a bit sad or empty. 

But I'm relieved to say I don't! I loved having something creative to put my energy into, I got off on the details, I enjoyed blogging about it and the day itself was so much fun- BUT I'm glad it's over.

I love that from now on all the weddings I will go to will be other peoples. We will just have to turn up and celebrate.. no decisions to make, no agonising, no negotiating, no pressure. Yippeee!!!

It's nice to be back in Perth!

Catching up with as many of our friends and family as we can.

Before we head back up to the sticks. (Where we now live)

Due to my expired drivers license there was a delay with our marriage certificate. 

But it should arrive in the post today. 

Once I've got it I'm going to change my name.

I feel a bit sad to say goodbye to old trusty.

I'm practicing my new signature. Like a twelve year old.

We get the proofs of our professional wedding photos on Friday.

So not long to wait now.

For those that are interested in the minor beauty details here at the deets of my wedding day efforts.. (to those who aren't, sorry this will be boring)

I had planned to buy a brand new perfume for the wedding, but couldn't find anything that really grabbed me.

However while digging around in my old makeup case I found a bottle of the perfume I used to wear all the time back in the uni days. Good old Japanese Musk from the Body Shop (which is now discontinued- boo hoo) Maybe not the most sophisticated of choices but as soon as I saw it I thought "Oh goodie my wedding perfume" And it's the only fragrance I have ever worn that people have given me compliments on.

My manicure and pedicure were last minute jobs, done just before closing time at one of those bulk nail bars in Garden City. So I didn't have much time to agonise over the colours, (which is normally half the fun) but these are the ones I went for:

Fingernails were painted with Malaysian Mist by OPI, a nice nude colour. I was looking out for Mimosa for Mr & Mrs or At First Sight but this shop didn't have either of them.

Toenails were painted with Kreme de la Kremlin by OPI, which is a nice creamy colour, as I'm not big on pearlescent or shimmery nailpolishes.. It looked quite pink on my toes. Not that it mattered as I was wearing a long dress. but anyway

 
But the funnest beauty detail of all was my fake hair.

I have fine hair prone to limpness. Poo to that.

So I went to Wasp in North Perth and bought some clip in human hair extensions. I think they were about $160 and you get a few different pieces that clip in close to your scalp and you can use them again and again. I got them the same length as my hair as aiming for added volume not length (and the longer you get them the more they cost)

They are weird, sort of like a funny little hairy animal.. but look great when in.

Definitely recommended for girls who like big hair.

I am going to practice putting them in myself to make sure I get lots of use out of them

It pains me to post these pictures of our wedding invites with big ugly blurred out bits all over them but if any more people I know figure out I have a wedding blog I'll die of shame... so names have been mostly scribbled out to protect identities! 

I wanted nice invitations that hinted at a relaxed fun time that we were hoping to have and left people looking forward to the wedding.

The Mr just wanted to send everyone a text message- but that wasn't going to do.

I had fallen in love with these gorgeous invites. But preferred something with an Australian twist, given our beautiful bush setting.

I played around to get the invitation wording how I wanted it to read. I came up with this:

I wanted some nice artwork to go with it. So I spoke to a few different local stationery places to suss out getting some custom invites made and ended up going with Wren Press who were really professional and had some beautiful examples of their work on display.

After talking to them about my ideas and doing a bit of chopping and changing and editing the text a bit here are the wedding invitations we ended up with.

We changed the Bbq, Booze and Boogying to "Feast and Merriment" because the Mr didn't like the word boogying (who have I married?), and I'm glad we did because in hindsight the word booze isn't very nice either. And we went with "..exchanging vows of Love and Partnership" because it is more descriptive than plain old "marriage". We also bought the RSVP date forward to 1st March. On the back we had info about the shuttle bus and the camping.

I was pretty happy with them. Had originally imagined something a little more colourful, but these are the tones of the native bush so think they work quite well. A lot of our guests RSVP'd that they were looking forward to 'cheering us on' which was always nice to hear! 

But my favourite detail is still the envelopes which were hand lettered by my Grandpa
