I heart the postman

Our wedding rings from Fabuluster have arrived in the post!

They are gorgeous!

Mine is polished gold to match my engagement ring and the Mr's is brushed finish because he doesn't do shiny.

When I am at work (which is often) I will wear just the wedding ring by itself..

That's why I opted for a plain white gold band.

I truly love the look of a simple unadorned wedding ring, worn on its own.

It says 'I'm married'... but that's all it gives away.

Though having said that..

I think it also looks rather rad with my engagement ring....

 

 

They fit together perfectly. 

Looking at them close up, my engagement ring needs a a clean and polish.

I might try and get that done before the wedding.

The Mister hasn't tried his on yet but I will take it home to him next week.

These pictures were taken after I had a manicure.

I rewarded myself for getting through the venue drama with minimal nail biting.. Poor pinky got gnawed on for a while until I realised and managed to stop before I worked my way onto the others.. old habits die hard.

As someone who has routinely bitten her nails down as far as they will go since childhood, the world of fingernail polish has only just opened up to me. 

I think for wedding day nails I will go with some sort of nude tone. I'm not really big on French tips. The one I'm wearing in these pics is Mimosa for Mr & Mrs by OPI. I like that it is opaque. But its maybe a little too pink...

I like how the  O.P.I website has the 'Try This Colour' function where you chose your skin tone, chose your nail length and see how any of their shades might look on your hand.

I might see how At First Sight looks next time.

Looks like everything is going to be okay.

Our booking was lost when they upgraded their computer system last year.

But they found the record of our deposit.

They've re-scheduled the other functions.

Our reservation has been reinstated.

They apologised for the mistake and the confusion. 

And the mystery guests turned out to be my Grandparents

So it's all back onf track. Thank god

My stress levels have been so high over the last few days it's going to take a while to get back to normal. My nerves feel somewhat frayed.

At least this little ordeal will help put any other problems which may arise into perspective. My new wedding mantra will be "At least we have a venue" It is definitely a happy thought.

It did make me feel better. And I think helped the wheel of fortune turn in our favour.

So now that everything is back on track, I'll be back to focusing on the deliciously minor, superficial and fun details again tomorrow.

oh dear

On the weekend a couple of our guests headed up to our wedding venue.. just to check it out, I suppose.

While there they started chatting to one of the staff members, who checked our booking in the computer, but couldn't see our names in the system.. She asked the couple if they were sure they had the right place or the right date... So they produced their wedding invitation... She checked again...

No weddings booked for that date at all.

She noted my phone number from the wedding invitation and when the couple left, she called me.

It appears that some where along the line our booking has 'disappeared'.

And it gets worse because someone else has booked it on our date. In fact, two someone elses. One group has booked out the Pavillion, where we are supposed to be holding our reception.. and there is another separate booking for the whole campground, where we have invited our guests to stay.

It is so crap to find out 5 weeks before our wedding that our venue is DOUBLE BOOKED.

I can't imagine how this has happened because I have been in touch with them numerous times since we made the booking last March, confirming details, asking questions and just being my usual anal self. The most recent contact was an email sent only a fortnight ago, which included, as always, our names and wedding date.

The Girl on the phone has told me that we should have priority as our booking was first and we booked the whole venue and I have the receipt for our deposit so not to stress about it (ha!)

But she is just the casual weekend worker.. I have to wait until the Manager gets in this afternoon to speak to her and find out what the hell is going on with our wedding. 

In addition to the drama of the double booking, I also feel a bit embarassing that two of our guests (an elderly couple) went to our wedding venue to be told that we're not actually booked in for that date.

However in the midst of this crap I am reminding myself to be thankful we found out now, rather than on the wedding day... imagine that! the horror!

I'm grateful to the mystery couple who, for whatever reason, felt compelled to check out our venue.. and I'm indebted to the Girl behind the desk for having the initative to check the date and then actually follow it up.

Please please please cross your fingers for us that this works out for us.

I still can't tell which one is which.

But it doesnt matter.

There are a few things that we were going to do, but now we're not.

Deciding NOT to do things is the quickest and easiest way to shorten your to-do list.

-First Dance. He's shy and I'm un-coordinated. We were just feeling yuk at the thought of it so we are letting ourselves off the hook with this one.

-Wedding Cake. We are serving petit fours for dessert instead and not really interested in cutting a cake so dont think we'll get around to organising this one.

- Bonfavs. I loved the idea of personalised badges, but due to our guest numbers and the style of wedding we have scrapped it.. A practical bonbonyeah I suggested was stubby holders! I thought the Mr would have been all over these like a rash but even he thought these were too bogan..!  so we not having anything.

-Cool Headgear. I have gone on and on and on about all the cool things I would love to wear on my head. But after all of that it looks as though I will be bare headed. And ironically IF I do wear anything it will be a very traditional veil worn low on my head. (thanks Lila!) Who would have thought.

-Flat shoes. After feeling so happy (and sure) about wearing flats and searching high and low for the perfect ones I have had a sudden and unexpected change of heart. Because after wearing some out last weekend I cant deny they do make you look longer and leaner and walk hotter. I will just change into some flats when I need to. (if I need to) 

-Flower Petal Confetti. I liked this idea, but our ampitheatre doesn't actually have an aisle, and so not sure at which point people would shower us with petals. Can't be bothered sourcing the little bags or organising people to hand them out. And we would still have to clean them up afterwards.

-Children. Decided not to invite them after all, with the exception of nursing infants. Sorry Kids but there were too many of you! The Mr came round to my point of view after we attended a wedding which was marred by disruptive children and distracted parents. Not what we want for our own wedding.

- Gift Registry. I was in two minds from the start. I thought it could be a good idea, just to give people some ideas if they wanted some.. And I liked the look of www.notanothertoaster.com as what we really want (need) is contribution toward our honeymoon. But the Mister wouldn't have a bar of any of it, so we are going without.

Cufflinks

Our Groomsmen are hiring their own suits but we will buying them their shirts, ties and also their cufflinks

And maybe these are a bit corny, but we wanted to make the cufflinks a bit personal

Here are what they're each getting

The Superman symbol relates to an adolescent nickname which has stuck.

It was either going to be a map of the world, or a surfbaord for his mate who travels the world surfing.

The Aces for his poker playing partner in crime

And he used to play cricket with his other Groomsmen, who still lives and breaths it.

The Wedding Workshop

The first Wedding Workshop for 2010 is being held at Villa Kula on March 24th!

It will be a cocktail style event held at this breath-taking venue.

  

The Wedding Workshop is the brainchild of Perth Wedding Planner Cathrin D'Entremont. The events have been running several times a year since 2006 and the idea is that you get advice and suggestions from variety of local vendors, including demonstrations and samples and the chance to ask questions in a low pressure environment.

If it wasn't the same week as my wedding, I'd be going just to perve on the glorious Villa Kula tent.

You might be wondering what a burns victims pressure suit has to do with weddings.

Infact, what you are actually looking at is my wedding underwear.

It's sooo bad I know. Flesh toned bicycle shorts and skin tone bra. Hot.

The Mister is going to hate them so much.

But too bad! They will help pull me in and keep me smooth.

Visible panty lines are the enemy!

To make it up to him (and myself) I will buy some extra pretty, super sexy stuff for the honeymoon.

My bike pants and bra was purchased from Four Seasons, in Perth City, which is the best place to buy bras.. especially for those who are generous of bust.. and they also have specialist services for women who have had masectomy or any other special requirements.

All the staff are fully trained to properly measure you and fit bras, the old fashioned way! (they also do swimwear)

And not all of their stuff is as unappealing as the items pictured. They do pretty things as well.

This definitely looks classier than any pool party I've ever been to.

It really makes a feature of the pool.. and is a good way to keep a garden party cool on a hot summers day.

And the canopy of trees wouldnt hurt either. And of course I am lovin those overhead lanterns! Nice to see a bright festive colour instead of the usual white.
