We had to buy some cushions for our reception. Lots of cushions. Like 70 of them.*
To make our scattered seating options more enticing and comfotable and hopefully stylish. (this is the only problem when you venue is a blank slate- you then have to fill it.)
So this meant shopping around for bulk cushions, which doesn't sound like much fun.
And it isn't! Cushions are not very exciting. Nor are they really that cheap. It was a mission. We looked all over Perth. (And by we I mean me & Mum- the Mr was absent due to lack of interest) But came up with nothing.
I knew we were desperate when Mum suggested we sew the pillows ourselves. Ho! (I know this would sound like a good idea to most craftyfolk but this is the same Mum who threw her Janome from one end of our backyard to the other in a rage after sewing yet another pucker. Seriously. Patience is not in our blood and neither is sewing)
I was starting to think I might just go back to East2West and put seventy of their $25 cushions on my credit card.
Luckily I didn't! A few weeks later I passed by a little shop up the road from our house and I notice they have some some nice cushions on sale. And they are about half the price of most others we had seen. And then the lady gave me a further discount for buying them all!
Yippee, no more cushion shopping!
I think the reason they were so eager to sell me these cushions to me is nobody else would buy them.
Because they probably aren't the most popular colours. Mainly olive greens and bright orange, with some brown, tans, burgandy and purple(!) thrown in..
BUT they are a nice texture and good quality fabric and all jumbled together I actually think they work awesomely well with native bushland in which our venue is nestled:
We are still about 10 short so I'll get some more reddish ones to brighten the overall look (and to break up the green & gold, as not even I am keen to take the Australiana theme that far)
*Buying 70 cushions isnt as crazy as it sounds. Our hire company has said that if they are in good condition after the wedding then he will buy them off me.
