Okay so after the disagreement which followed the first round of invitation-making and then the unsuccessful second attempt we created these ones TOGETHER. And what we came up with was much better anyway. Even if I say so myself.

   

This one isn't actually the final as I thought it better to post one without the address etc  on it, the one that went out was the best it had the Mr opening the fridge and insde you could see coronos and stuff.. . but you get the idea.

We had such a good response to these invites. I think it geared everyone up for abit of laid back fun

Dita's Dress

And I don't mind her bag either.

If 11 year old me was chosing my wedding gown I probably would have ended up looking a bit like this.

Yes I was a child of the 80's.

This used to me my favourite movie, and even though it was a bit scary I thought she looked so glamorous in that masquerade ballroom scene

fashion dilema

Urgh. I dont know which of these dresses to wear to my enagement party this weekend.

Im not totally in love with either but am going to 'make do' because I havent found anything I like better and am sick of shopping and have got time or energy to keep looking

 

The dress on the left is a new dress I bought with the party in mind. Its Fleur Wood, it was on sale and I thought it seemed nice and floaty and romantic. You cant see from the crappy phone picture but the sleeves and skirt are broderie anglaise.  I tried it on for the Mr. and he said "it looks like you are wearing a table cloth" Im worried that he's right. 

The dress in the middle is a dress I bought about 6 months ago but have never yet worn because.. well Im not totally sure why.. Its Seduce and the fabric is a bit synthetic and scratchy.. Is a lighter brighter blue than the photo suggests.. the skirt isnt very flowy its sort of like a fitted pencil skirt, meaning I have to dig out my control knickers... which is fine but it suits heels rather than flats.. and I wonder if its not casual enough for as our party is a backyard bbq, I dont really want to be tottering around in heels.

But I'm going to have to make one of these options work. Or borrow something off my sister.

ETA: The one on the right is a little cotton Wish number, that I ended up wearing. Its quite short but works really well with my flat sandals and my new dangly Oxfam earrings. It was such a stinking hot day I just wanted to go with the coolest option. I ended up buying it on the morning of the party from the shop down the road so found it just in the nick of time

Native Bouquets

I am trying to educate myself about Native Flowers because I want our wedding to feature only natives and preferably West Australian Natives.

A lot of Native arrangements look quite ugly- sort of dry and spikey- in my opinion so Im trying to work out which species I do actually like and what works well together.

 

This bouquet features leucadendrons, proteas, banksias nuts and native foliage. I like the muted colours..

 

 

This posie is okay as well it has pink ice proteas and tetragona nuts.. which I really like but I would totally lose the hot pink gerberas.. I think a spray of yellow wattle and some bottle brushes would look nicer.

These ones are actually artificial.. but from a distance you still get the jist.. I like the colours

The Frock

I have been browsing TheFROCK which is full of exquisite vintage eye candy, which are all for sale.

For those of us wanting to think outside the strapless-gown square it is an absolute wealth of inspiration.

Most of the gowns are couture pieces, and there is a section for items previously worn by filmstars and celebrities from yesteryear, as well as a Bridal section.

Hmm okay so yes it was built by convicts and yes it was once used as a lunatic asylum.

But that was all in the PAST. It is PRESENTLY a very lovely place.

Each comes with its own haiku poem.

I'd like to wear one instead of a veil.. or perhaps get the bridesmaids decked out in one each.

I love her hair. It looks relaxed, loose and carefree. I want my hair like that at my wedding.

I also love her cardigan.

And these photos have made me question what sort of wedding dress I want.. We are aiming for an outdoorsy back to nature sort of thing, so I thought beading, lace and that sort of stuff was out.. but maybe it can work...
