Im starting to think the dresses on their own don't necessarily need to be that offbeat, as its the accessories, your hair and your attitude which will give your bridal look a unique twist.

getting real

Well now the planning starts for real, so its time to get out of la la land

No more fantasy wedding in which I have unlimited money and time...

Now is the part where I have to reconcile what I want with what is physically possible.

In other words, its time to start prioritising.

We've had a bit of a chat about what sort of day we want... 

Whats Important to us is:

Having all our friends and family there. We dont really want a small wedding.

Having enough money left over for a great overseas honeymoon

Short yet Meaningful ceremony

Guests not going hungry or thirsty

Good Music

Thats what we've come up with so far.

Things that arent as important to us:

Flowers

Cake

colour schemes

wedding cars

formal photos

I think the first thing we need to sort out is venue seeing as that will be the back drop to the whole thing... will determine how many people we can have, what we can serve them to eat, how we can serve it, how much we pay for drinks, how much effort we have to put in to make the space look nice... etc etc... and so the hunt begins....

Princess Di's sapphire ring

I'm waiting!

for my engagement ring..

In the meantime I am getting my fill from Princess Di..

The basic design is pretty similar.. we are just sort of on a different scale.. her sapphire is a whopping 18 cts, mine is just over 2ct. Mine is surrounded by tiny diamonds and her is surrounded by rather large ones.)

Which brings me to the other reason I looking at pictures of hers.. It helps allay my fears that mine will look a bit too oversized.. chunky.. or OverTheTop.. (as detailed here )

According to my calculations hers is 9X bigger than mine and it looks alright for her..

One of my best friends just bought her wedding dress.. she isnt giving much away but has revealed that its a short dress.. Im so excited as she has always has had a totally individual sense of style and I know that she will be the coolest bride ever.. she also has awesome pins so will be hot to boot!

I can hardly wait till their wedding.. which is early 2010..

I reckon she will maybe be looking a little like this..
