wine barrels

This wedding featured on The Fairmount Bride is an idea I'm going to steal for our wedding.

Our reception is casual bbq style without any formal seating.. so we are filling our reception space with scattered seating options.. sort of inspired by our local beer garden.. so amongst other items of furniture we have been looking for tallboy bar tables to hire. But there only seem to be unsightly ones to be found, that would probably be better covered with a table cloth or something.

But as soon as I saw this picture it was like of course wine barrels why didnt I think of that. It will fit in well with our rustic outdoorsy theme. We wont be using ours to rest place cards on but for people to gather around and rest their drinks on.

And then when the wedding is over I will cut them in half and use them as flower pots for our garden.

So now Im wondering where you buy wine barrels.

Marco Bicego

I think these rings looks soo cool. It's as much about the metal as it is about the diamonds.

Sort of delicate but also strong. Not overly complicated but not exactly simple either.

A great option for those looking for a combined wedding band and engagement ring in one!

hunky groomsmen

Everyone, including me, went gaga over the beautiful bridesmaid dresses.. but I actually think the groomsmen in this wedding deserve an honourable mention. Loving the skinny black suits!

This wedding took place at the Gunners Barracks in Mosman, Sydney, and the BM dresses are all from Rose & Ruby. Not sure where the stylin suits came from...

veiled

Whenever I see a pictures of Brides with styling headgear I develop a crush.

Whether it's beautiful flowers, funky hats, amazing headbands, ribbons, or any other crazy headgear  it all looks amazing and so I want.

And then there is the bare-headed bridal option to consider, which is also pretty awesome in all its beautiful simplicity...

But. I also kinda like veils... and I figure your wedding is a one off opportunity to wear one. So I reckon I'll be veiling it up for at least the ceremony..

I wonder how hard to is to get your hair styled in a way that would cope with a headgear change..?

Even though I'd like to mix it up a bit, I don't want to have to do very much (any) messing around with my hair in between..

ball gown glamour

To the Dancefloor Girls! I've just requested Love Shack

Dolce and gabanna _kellie jo

I won't be wearing full dresses like these but I can see why people want to... Both drama and glamour rolled into one. I can see why some girls put on a big dress and don't want to take it off.

blue and white

My favourite colour combo! So crisp yet so comforting.

How nice is the folkiness of these tablecloths! Also loving the herbs in recycled tins! And the picnic tables!

Cupcake Picks

Dessert is evolving.

Originally my Mother-in-law & Aunty-in-law and Sister-in law were going to join forces to make us some homemade goodies for a dessert buffet.

Which sounded great to us, although I did ask them have a think about it, as much as we'd love their home-cooking we'd also love them to feel relaxed and have nothing to worry about on the day.

So they did have a think.. and decided that perhaps they don't really want to cook the desserts after all.

So I asked the caterer about adding dessert to our menu he said it would cost an extra $11/head. Which is probably reasonable(?) but with 150 people is $1650.. And I'm doubtful that after a continous supply of hearty bbq food and alcohol that many people will be wondering what's for dessert...

So we returned to the original idea of just serving wedding cake for dessert, as it's something we'll be buying anyway... And because we doing cocktail style bbq a practical solution is cupcakes, as no plates or cutlerly required.

I'm liking these... They look yummy, they look weddingly, and they look cute without being 'too' cute

I have had a quick look on-line for some similar looking cupcake picks but most seem to be cartoon-like looking brides and grooms, or babylike bride and grooms.. if anyone knows where to find more dignified, adult looking mini-toppers like the ones above please let me know!

Red Spinel

Spinel, the Gem Traders gemstone. Tough, durable, colourful, beautiful. Under-valued by most.

It forms under the same geological conditions as Ruby and the two stones are often found together.. infact the two have often been confused (eg the Black Princes Rudie in the English Crown is actually a Spinel, as is the 'Timur Ruby' in the English crown jewels).

It is an 8 on the Moh's scale of hardness.. so only marginally softer than rubies or sapphires.

Spinel comes in a wide spectrum of colours but it is the redish and pink tones for which the gem is best known..
